Lleyton Hewitt has been awarded a Wimbledon wildcard a month out from the 10th anniversary of his greatest triumph in tennis.

The 2002 champion received the good news on Tuesday as he prepared to take on Croatian nemesis Ivo Karlovic in the opening round at Queen's, the traditional Wimbledon warm-up event in London.

Karlovic is the 208cm giant who "served out of a tree" to spectacularly end Hewitt's Wimbledon title defence in the first round in 2003.

Hewitt, 31, this week dropped out of the world's top 200 for the first time in his distinguished career, but the All England Club came to the party and presented the former No.1 with one of seven men's wildcards to the grasscourt grand slam starting on June 25.

Hewitt and Chris Guccione also received wildcards into the men's doubles, while Australia's reigning junior Wimbledon junior champions Luke Saville and Ashleigh Barty were awarded wildcards into the men's and women's qualifying draws.

Other men's singles wildcards went to David Goffin after the young Belgian's giantkilling run to the French Open quarter-finals from qualifying, German Tommy Haas and Brits Oliver Golding, Josh Goodall, James Ward and Jamie Baker.
