Neville spent his entire playing career at Manchester United, winning every major trophy on offer except the Uefa Cup. The Bury-born defender made 85 appearances for England, making the right-back berth his own for the best part of a decade.
Neville had already won new admirers for his forthright and insightful analysis as a Sky pundit before Hodgson asked him to return to the England scene, where he will act as a link between dressing room and manager.
Ray Clemence (Head of FA Development)
Capped 61 times by his country, Clemence would have played considerably more for England if it had not been for the brilliance of his great rival Peter Shilton.
He then became a coach at Tottenham and had a short spell as manager of Barnet before linking up with England. First brought in as goalkeeping coach under Glenn Hoddle in 1996, he lost that role under Fabio Capello but remained a member of the coaching staff and has been given a key role in football development by the FA, overseeing England age group teams from 15-19.
David Watson (goalkeeping coach)
A former England Under-21 international, Watson moved into coaching when his career at Barnsley was ended prematurely by injury at the age of only 28. He has grown to become one of the leaders in his field following spells at Oldham Athletic, Huddersfield Town, Northampton Town and Nottingham Forest.
Already working with England’s young goalkeepers, he forged a close relationship with Joe Hart during his season on loan at Birmingham City.
Hart is believed to have given Watson a glowing reference when Hodgson was looking into the possibility of recruiting him.

Penryn Asda decorates childrens' ward for Jubilee
6:30pm Thursday 7th June 2012 in News
ASDA staff handed over a stack of Union Jack bunting and red, white and blue balloons to help children in the Royal Cornwall Hospital celebrate the Diamond Jubilee.
Speaking before the jubilee celebrations, senior play specialist Gill Caddy said: “There will be lots of parties and fun going on throughout the local communities and we like to try and include our patients in that.
“It’s also nice for the staff who work during these events as well. The bunting will certainly help us to set the scene and will add a bright and colourful look to the wards.”
As well as the bunting donation, ASDA also brought bunting for youngsters on the wards to colour in.
Bernadette Snow, from Penryn ASDA, said: “We are always eager to help where we can and are delighted we were able to help the children celebrate the Jubilee. We thought the children on the wards might like to join in with our bunting competition.”
The winning designer will receive a £50 gift card from ASDA.”

Copy Kate: sales of Asda's £25 nude dress rise thirty five per cent hours after The Duchess wears similar creation by Alexander McQueen - Daily Mail

The Duchess of Cambridge dazzled the world again this week - not least in the delicate and understated lace gown by Alexander McQueen that she chose for Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee Thanksgiving service.
And, it seems that, as ever, where Kate leads the way, women follow in their droves.
Just hours after The Duchess' appearance on the steps of St Paul's Cathedral, George at Asda reported a thirty five per cent rise in sales of its nude lace dress.

At just 25, the garment comes in at well over 1000 less expensive that similar versions by Alexander McQueen designer Sarah Burton.
The store's George line has also seen a forty six per cent rise in sales of its limited edition 'Fit for a Queen' vintage inspired dress collection which takes its inspiration from the young Queen’s style and the fit and flare trend of the 1950s.
A key feature of this collection is its longer hemlines, currently being snapped up by shoppers striving to emulate The Duchess of Cambridge's understated elegance.
Comments Brand Director and creator of the ‘Fit for a Queen’ dress collection, Fiona Lambert, 'In the build-up and during the Jubilee celebrations, we saw a surge in customer demand for classic silhouettes and formal fashion. The George range of 'Queenie' dresses is designed to flatter any shape and accentuates the waist- a favourite shape of the Duchess of Cambridge'.
She continues, 'Our George customers love the royals, especially Kate Middleton, and George stores have been flooded with Copy-Kates purchasing our nude lace dress after they saw the Duchess in a similar Alexander McQueen number.
'We have had a similar reaction to a number of George items that have been favoured by Kate including a 300% sales uplift on our mac collection, a 500% uplift in nude tights over the spring months as well as a 471% uplift on our coloured denim after her appearance in a coral pair.
'We expect the Kate phenomenon to continue as she has now established herself as a British style icon. We know our customers can’t wait to see what she will be wearing next.'

August 11 opposition still unconfirmed (From Watford Observer) - Watford Observer
Watford wait on Capital One Cup draw before deciding on Shrewsbury Town fixture
1:07pm Thursday 7th June 2012 in Sport
Watford are still unable to confirm who their opposition will be on August 11 - the weekend before the Championship campaign kicks off.
The Hornets have pencilled in a friendly away to Shrewsbury Town for that date but the club have stressed it is only a provisional fixture and supporters are advised not to make travel plans just yet.
We understand the Football League have told clubs there may be a chance some of the Capital One Cup first round fixtures could be played on Saturday, August 11 rather than midweek, which would be just a few days before the league campaigns begin.
However, we understand there are problems when it comes to policing matches around the London area due to the Olympics Games, which will be taking place at that time, and the Hornets are expected to wait until the Carling Cup draw next Thursday before deciding whether to confirm the Shrewsbury match.
All Championship, League One and League Two clubs will go into the hat next week, except for the two highest placed clubs in last season’s table – Bolton Wanderers and Blackburn Rovers.
Those two relegated Premier League clubs will enter at the second round stage, while the seven top-flight teams in European competition will join the field in the third round.
The Football League last week announced a four-year sponsorship deal with credit card company Capital One, who replace Carling as the competition sponsor.
