Coyle: Marv set to shine

MARVIN Sordell has been promised a first-team push next season after a frustrating four months at the Reebok.
The former Watford hitman has managed just 39 minutes of action since arriving on transfer deadline day in January for a whopping £3.2million.
His lack of opportunities have been a bone of contention among supporters who were keen to see Owen Coyle’s second most expensive capture have a greater say in the relegation run-in.
But, speaking to The Bolton News, the manager explained why the England Under-21 international did not get a first-team start – and why he believes the youngster will come good next season.
“I can’t begin to describe how unfortunate Marvin was,” Coyle said. “When he came in he was cup-tied and then with everything that happened at White Hart Lane, that put us behind with cup games again.
“I felt I couldn’t give him a run because he’d be coming back out of the team. It would have been too stop-start.
“When he came on I was pleased, he showed quality. And in the last couple of months I felt that he was ready to go, but the skipper (Kevin Davies) had come into form and I had David Ngog and Ivan Klasnic all competing for the same place.
“But looking to next season, Marvin is already proven in the Championship and he’s played for England Under-21s – I’ve got no doubt there will be loads of goals in him.”
Coyle released this season’s top scorer Ivan Klasnic, leaving Sordell to compete with Kevin Davies and Ngog for a place up front next season.
And the manager reckons the Croatia international’s departure will put more responsibility on the young striker’s shoulders.
“Ivan was always good coming off the bench for a goal,” he said. “Even from the start - sometimes he would, sometimes he wouldn’t.
“But he’s gone now and we move on - I know there are goals in Marvin - I know he’s quick and that he’s going to get better.
“We can give him that platform, so now it’s up to him to go and prove himself.”

Dorchester Lidl is officially open for business
2:30pm Friday 25th May 2012 in Latest
A LIDL store pulled in a big crowd as it opened its doors for the first time.
The new addition to Dorchester’s supermarket scene was officially declared open for business.
New Mayor of Dorchester Andy Canning had the honour of cutting the tape in his first mayoral engagement following a specially written cry by Town Crier Alistair Chisholm.
Coun Canning, who was accompanied by his 15-year-old son James, said: “It’s really good news for the town to have this new retailer coming on board. I’m very pleased to be opening this Lidl store.”
Customers began queuing up ahead of the 8am opening, with county town resident Brian Warren-Peachy and his wife Jennifer receiving a bottle of bubbly in recognition of being the first in line.
Mr Warren-Peachy said: “We know the store in Weymouth and have been going there for many years and we have been waiting for this.”
The opening of the store comes after lengthy delays for a new road layout to be installed at the junction of The Grove by the former Loders Toyota garage site following planning approval back in November 2010.
